If you’re not listening to podcasts, you should start. Free and available on demand, podcasts are an easy way to turn your commute into something fun and educational. But as you might have noticed: there are many, many podcasts to choose from. Where do you begin?

In this post, we’re going to narrow things down to a handful of well-known and respected career-oriented podcasts that can help you decide on your career direction, become better at what you do, or simply get motivated for the work day.

Here are five great career-related podcasts for 2017.

Happen to your career

If you’re still trying to figure out exactly what your career should be, or if you want to make a change, then Scott Anthony Barlow’s Happen to Your Career is a good place to start. Barlow offers practical career advice to help people understand what kind of work they should be doing (and how they can actually make a living doing it). He is particularly interested in helping people match their passions to the right field of work.

The Tim Ferriss show

You might have heard of Tim Ferris before. He’s the author of The 4-Hour Work Week, a book that made the New York Times Bestsellers list and was translated into 40 different languages. On his podcast, Ferriss interviews highly successful people and picks their brains about work, life, and everything in between. Some of his most notable guests include Tony Robbins, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Foxx, and Seth Godin. The Tim Ferriss Show was included in iTunes Best of 2015 list, and is often cited as the #1 business podcast on iTunes as well.

How did you get into that?

Have you ever looked at someone with a really cool job and wondered how they got into that? If so, then this podcast is for you. Hosted by entrepreneur Grant Baldwin, How did you get into that? highlights exciting and interesting careers, and how people got their start. A great source of inspiration, Baldwin’s podcast has a way of making you rethink your career, and what it would take to really make your dreams come true.

The James Altucher show

You could say James Altucher didn’t choose the podcast life, it chose him. A former hedge fund manager turned bestselling author, he had no interest in blogging or podcasting. But when a fan of his column bought his web domain name and gave it to him as a gift, he reluctantly started blogging, and was soon won over. This lead to podcasting, and now, The James Altucher Show is one of the top career podcasts out there. Hosting thought leaders (and entertaining guests) like the aforementioned Tim Ferriss and Chuck Klosterman, Altucher asks tough, pointed questions, which can lead to thought-provoking discussions and insight into business, careers, and society in general.

Manager Tools

Manager Tools has been in production for 10 years, so there is a huge library of archived podcasts to wet your beak. Aimed primarily at managers (their website boasts, “Be a better manager in 30 minutes a week”), the podcast nevertheless covers a wide range of workplace situations, giving people of all career levels plenty to dig into. A must-listen for anyone looking to develop their career.

Podcasts can be very addictive, so please enjoy responsibly. If however, you find yourself wanting more, there are many other great career-related podcasts to enjoy, including: The Charged Life with Brendan Burchard, Productivityist, Career Tools, and The Leadership Dojo, to name just a few.
