A few months ago, the Globe and Mail released a report showing how much time it takes Canada’s top CEOs to earn your salary.

But what does a Canadian CEO make anyway? A pittance compared with the world’s highest-paid athletes. Pffft, aside from Gerald Schwartz, these guys couldn’t even afford to rent Floyd Mayweather’s guesthouse.

We decided to calculate how long it takes for each of these athletes, ranked by Forbes as the top earners, to earn the average Canadian salary (because I don’t at the moment know how to create a fancy calculator into which you can input your particular salary).

I have calculated this using the latest Statistics Canada report, which listed the average Canadian salary at $49,000. I took the total annual earnings – including salary and endorsements – for these sports stars from Forbes, and broke that down to an hourly wage. All the totals are rounded to the nearest minute and some are the same because I didn’t break it down to exact seconds.

So, if you imagine this all taking place in actual time, from the beginning of the work year, all of these guys have earned your entire salary before lunch on January 2.

I leave this here without further comment. Well, except this:
