Can you guess a person’s relationship intentions by their chosen career? You can try.

The people behind Clover, a dating app, have released this infographic which shows the correlation between its users’ professions and what sort of relationships they are seeking.

I feel compelled to point out that the stated premise is pretty flawed. The image states that Clover “analyzed data from its users to see if career choice affects the type of relationship you seek.” The results, of course, don’t answer this question at all. Not even the teeniest little bit. There’s not even an inkling of causality here. I think it’s even hard to argue much correlation.

The choices on the app are friendship, hook up, casual, and long term. If you ask a hundred lawyers what sort of relationship they are seeking, something has to come out as a majority answer. Whatever that is doesn’t tell you that choosing to be a lawyer somehow affected that answer.

That being said, let’s look at the results, and you can decide whether they’re in any way accurate.
