The 10 coolest offices in Canada

It’s no big secret that environment can play a role in how productive and engaged your employees are. Studies suggest that some of the factors that increase employee well being are natural light and plants.
A recent study in the UK concluded that employees were 15% more productive when houseplants were added to “lean” workplaces. To quote the Guardian: “[E]mployees who actively engage with their surroundings are better workers.”
Glassdoor has now listed the 10 coolest office in Canada.
“Workspaces are really critical — a stimulating environment helps to motivate employees, bringing a sense of fun and energy to the company, which improves overall morale and increases productivity,” said Samantha Zupan, Glassdoor spokesperson. “The environment is so much more than desks and chairs, and these companies exemplify some of the best and most engaging spaces in Canada.”

1. Electronic Arts (Montreal, QC). International gaming company. Pictured is The Sims room, used for relaxation. Features bright open spaces, fun designs in offices all over the world.
Employees say of the Montreal and Burnaby, BC, locations, “Great office looks and feel,” and “beautiful campus in Burnaby, great library where you can find many great books and you can rent game and game console for free. Soccer field, in-door basketball.”
2. Nakisa (Montreal, QC). Software solutions provider for organization and talent management. Features a full movie theatre for presentations and movie nights, high ceilings, lots of natural light.
An employee says, “The office itself is pretty great. It’s an old theater building (with a theater still in place), ping pong, pool tables, cafeteria, 20ft ceilings, etc.”
3. PointClickCare (Mississauga, ON). Cloud-based software provider for senior care. Features an on-site CrossFit gym.
An employee says, “Many companies preach the ‘work hard play hard’ motto, but PointClickCare is the first place I have been that follows up on it. They have 2 gyms (one CrossFit & one regular) onsite, catered lunches 3 times a week and dry cleaning services just to name a few perks.”
4. Mobify (Vancouver, BC). Mobile ecommerce platform. Features a “Tiger Lair” and an area called the “Beehive.”

5. Microsigns (Montreal, QC). Digital merchandising platform. Features a wide open floor plan, plants, lots of natural light.
6. Teva Pharmaceuticals (Toronto, ON). Pharmaceutical company. Features a bright, sleek kitchen area for employees to gather.
An employee says, that the “company cafeteria is subsidized and the food is excellent.”
7. Intelex (Toronto, ON). Management software provider. Features a ping pong table, arcade game, and what looks like a popcorn machine.
An employee writes, “Great atmosphere to spend your day working in and great location just outside of the downtown core and waterfront.”
8. Blackberry (Waterloo, ON). Telecommunication and wireless equipment company.
Features a groovy modern kitchen area that for has a full chalkboard wall.
An employee says “Friendly, supportive environment.”
9. Blue Coat Systems (Waterloo, ON). Business assurance technology company. Features a bright, fresh, modern dining area. An employee says, “Blue Coat has a great work/life balance and a fun office environment. Collaboration is often open and the company is always innovating.”
10. Rogers Communications (Toronto, ON). Communications and media company. “Provides an inviting lobby for job candidates, employees and business partners.”
An employee says, “Great people to work with and a fun environment. Great location and close to the other offices for meetings. Lunch is awesome in the cafeteria.”
