If you’re a millennial and you haven’t yet decided what to do with your life, you should take a look at this. In fact, if you’re pretty much any age, it could be of some use.

Looking at high youth unemployment rates and findings that many young adults find themselves in lower-wage sectors, researchers at Young Invincibles decided to “define the ‘Best Jobs for Millennials’ that might set today’s young people up for economic success.” They analyzed over 400 occupations by salary, projected future growth, and access for young adults.

“High pay is an important consideration,” they write, “but so is access. Not all high paying jobs are accessible immediately to a young Millennial starting his or her career (for instance, a CEO of a major corporation). For this reason, we removed from contention the top 10 percent of jobs projected to be the most selective in the future.”

Some key points of the report:

  • The best occupation for young adults is as physician’s assistant, with actuaries in second and a tie for third between statisticians and biomedical engineers.
  • Thirteen of the top 25 jobs are in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields, and an additional five jobs are in medical fields.

So, we have a list of well-paying, easily accessible jobs with reasonable projected growth. And who can’t use a list like that? And, while 15 of the jobs are in STEM fields, it’s worth noting that not all the jobs are tech-science-y or medical, which is nice. The list also include elevator installers and repairers, PR specialists, and fundraisers.
